We are very proud of the successes CFF saw in 2006 and we will continue to grow and develop the organization this year.

Thank you to those who participated in our membership questionnaire. Here are some results from those that responded:

45% live in the suburbs 93% are female

55% are ages 18-29 62% currently work in the industry

76% joined for networking purposes

A great way to network is to take advantage of our quarterly networking events and/or join a committee. Whether your interest lies in membership, Event planning, Sponsorship, Public Relations or writing for the newsletter we could use your help! Please visit the website at www.chicagofashionfoundation.com for more information.

I am “making a difference with every stitch!” As a recent Purdue University graduate I am one of three owners of a new knitwear company, Three Purls Knitwear (www.three-purls.com), specializing in unique pink ribbon (breast cancer awareness) sweaters and scarves, as well as Greek letter sorority apparel.

So how did I become involved in knitwear when I am just learning to knit? Let's back up twenty years: Darla Schild, one of my business partners, was at Purdue University studying Advertising and Public Relations (I was just two years old by the way!) Darla's mom, Arlene Snell, hand knit a very unique sweater with Darla's sorority letters in the sweater. Everyone loved it, and Arlene always kept the idea in the back of her mind and wanted to, one day, begin a company based on this sweater. That day finally came twenty years later!

After studying in Florence, Italy, I came back to the United States and completed her internship at K. Amato, where Kristen Amato taught me about owning her own business and also introduced me to the Chicago Fashion Foundation.
